Hip Hop

These classes are designed specifically for our dancers ages 10 and up.
* Level 2 is by evaluation only.

 

Each class will perform 1 routine in each production!

(except Leaps & Turns 1/2)

Hip Hop

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements. 

 

Students may wear any clothing that allows free body movement and tennis shoes/sneakers.

Lyrical is a style of dance that uses the emotion and mood of the music to elicit movements from the dancers. Students have a warm up focusing on core strength and flexibility. Contemporary is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of modern, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid movements.   The class includes floor work, progressions, and center combinations.  

Students may wear any type of dance attire and either jazz shoes, pirouettes, or something similar. Hair should be secure and off of the face. 

Lyrical/Contemporary

Jazz classes are fun and energetic. They include such elements as kicks, leaps, turns, splits, and isolations. Classes include stretch and strengthening exercises, floor work, and across the floor progressions in addition to center floor combinations. Blending musical theatre/broadway-style with jazz will allow dancers to explore how to emote and act through dance and movement to tell a story.  

Students may wear any type of dance attire and tan jazz shoes. Hair should be secure and off of the face. 

Jazz/Musical Theatre

Tap is a style involving rhythm, dynamics, and varying sounds. Tappers will have a graduated warm-up to loosen their ankles and knees for proper execution of skills, across the floor progressions and have center floor work to learn and perfect new skills. Dancers will learn a variety of tap styles such as musical theatre/Broadway to rhythm, jazz tapping.



Students may wear any type of dance attire and black tap shoes. Hair should be secure and off of the face.

Each class will perform 1 routine in each production!

Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks.  Advanced classes will also incorporate tumbling tricks such as handsprings and aerials. Classes will constist of stretching, conditioning, and practicing tricks down the mat.  


Students may wear any type of dance attire and will go barefoot. Hair should be secure and off of the face.

Tap

Acro

Leaps & Turns is a technique class focusing on various jumps, leaps, and turns. Classes will start with a warm-up, which will consist of stretching and conditioning followed by center work and across the floor progressions.   ​

Students may wear any type of dance attire and either jazz, shoes, pirouettes, or something similar. Hair should be secure and off of the face.

* Leaps and Turns 1 & 2 are technique based classes and will not participate in production.

Each class will perform 1 routine in each production!



Student Choreography will put the dancers in their teacher’s shoes as they become the visionaries,  creators, and collaborators of their dances. This class will allow dancers to explore the tools used to create choreography.  They will focus on various elements that make up the craft of choreography such as counts, creativity, formations, movement, emotion, and more.​
